Janmejay Shaktawat, MD

Dr. Janmejay Shaktawat is more popularly known as Dr. Jay among his patients. He has been practicing in The Villages since 2003. In 2012, he established his own practice – Health First Internal Medicine Associates – where he currently serves as a physician and Medical Director.

Dr. Jay completed his residency at UPMC in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he served as the Chief Resident of Internal Medicine in 2003.

Dr. Jay holds a board certification in Internal Medicine from the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is currently licensed in the State of Florida. Dr. Jay is a member of the American Medical Association and American College of Physicians.

Dr. Jay is involved in two ACOs – Paradigm ACO, where he serves as a Secretary and Chief Medical Officer, and Health First ACO, which he founded and currently serves as Chairman.

Dr. Jay has hospital privileges in the Villages Regional Hospital and Leesburg Regional Hospital.

Michelle Springstead, ARNP

Michelle Springstead has practiced in The Villages for the last 15 years. In 2007, she established her own practice – Family Practice Southern Trace/KAVA Med Spa. Michelle has primarily provided primary care services, sports and USCG maritime physicals, including nutritional counseling for weight management. She also provided cosmetic services such as Botox injections, dermal fillers, and DEKA laser skin resurfacing. In 2018, Michelle joined Health First Internal Medicine Associates.

Michelle completed her pre-nursing program at the University of Florida in 1992. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing at the East Carolina University, where she graduated with honors. In 1999, she was certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners in Adult Health. In addition, she completed her Master of Science in Nursing at the Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan. To further her education, Michelle received her teaching certification for health sciences in 2006 at the University of Central Florida.

Prior to establishing her own practice, Michelle has served as an instructor at The Villages Charter High School, where she assisted in the development and implementation of the Health Sciences Academy. She has also served as a staff ARNP for the Community Primary Health Clinic in Lake County. And after receiving her certification in Adult Health, she has served as a Medical Director at Mount Dora Family Practice.
